In the pursuit of your network marketing success, it can become too easy to miss the forest through the trees. I HIGHLY recommend you invest a couple minutes and watch this excellent video.

I think it is basically a trait of human nature. The vast majority of us love to be able to help others. Whether that is our children, or our neighbor, or anyone we know of or meet that has a serious need…most of us really want to help. The number of people I see who claim to want to help people achieve network marketing success is huge.

However sometimes our own resources, abilities or talents, knowledge and skills, time available apart from our existing responsibilities etc. may not allow us to be of much assistance.

So…what can we do, irrespective of where we currently are at in the various areas of our own lives, to be able to help those in our circle of influence?

I believe my answer (and this especially applies for network marketing success) may come as a bit of a surprise to many…but here it is.

By far the biggest key to your own network marketing success, and to helping others generally is…help yourself first. Put another way…the best contribution I can make to helping others is my own personal development and ensuring my own success. If I become wiser, think what that will do in my role as a father or grandfather. If I become a better leader, think what that will do in my role as a business person…both in a home based business and any other type of business, or in my church and/or community activities. If I become financially successful and independent, think what that will do for my children’s chances of also achieving the same. If I learn to create happiness for myself and spouse, think what that will do for the chances of my children also knowing how to create happiness for themselves.

If I develop a personal character of integrity, honesty, commitment etc. then my children have an excellent chance of being the same. In the area of money, trust me…you will need to develop yourself to become whatever person you need to become to order to achieve success. It isn’t just luck, and it isn’t “getting the right breaks in life”. It is being prepared to become the person, do the things, be persistent, develop the skills…that is required to achieve your network marketing success or any other chosen endeavor.

So do yourself…and everyone in your circle of influence a huge favor. Work on your own personal development. That is by far the best “gift” you can give those people. If you are broke and only just manage to pay your bills each month…there is very little you can do to help someone who can’t pay their bills. First, get yourself into a position of financial abundance and then you can really bless any person or charity you choose. Having your own testimony of your network marketing success will make you more attractive to potential prospects.

Just a couple of weeks ago I had need to do take a trip from Brisbane to Cairns…a two hour flight. As the plane taxied out to the runway for takeoff the hostesses stood in the passageway and demonstrated and explained how to use the oxygen mask in an emergency. As part of their routine they insisted…”In case of emergency, first secure your own oxygen mask. Then, if you have children with you, or if someone near you is having difficulty, help them to secure their masks.” In other words…first, take care of yourself….then and only then will you be in a position to be of any help to anyone else.

So self-development enables you to be equipped, resourced and therefore more valuable to those around you. If you continually keep developing yourself, your character etc. you become a more attractive person to your marketplace. Your reputation will begin to go before you. Opportunities will seek you out and more people will want to do business with you. Not only will you yourself have more network marketing success, you will also be attractive to others wanting to do the same.
